A novel about seeking forgiveness and emotional healing
A terminally ill African American man pens a personal journal to bequeath to his gay son upon his death. He seeks to apologize and, in some form, or fashion reconcile with his adult son, posthumously, for the emotional pain and suffering he inflicted on him during his childhood and adolescent years. This is a moving novel that addresses the collective pain of intergenerational trauma caused by the stress of enduring racist systems (slavery, Jim Crow, etc.) as well as the destructive effect that one of its byproducts, toxic masculinity, has had on African American families.
