Nearly everyone has an album that marks the point when they started to love a band. With its multilayered, maximalist sound, its energy which is at once moody and effervescent, Wilco's Summerteeth hooked me from my first listen. Created at a time when Wilco lead Jeff Tweedy was battling personal demons, as evidenced in many of the lyrics, this album marked a turning point for Wilco, as they moved farther away from their alt-country past into other territories. With its lush sound and songs that combine stirring energy with underlying complexity and darkness, this is the album I find myself going back to listen to again and again.
