Wallace, a cruel man with a sad excuse for a life, wakes up at his own funeral. He is escorted to the tea shop Charon’s Crossing as a ghost, where he is expected to grieve for his own death before crossing over to the other side. He learns to love himself and others under the gentle watch of his new found family and one kind (and handsome) farryman. This novel is very emotional, dealing with concepts of grief, loss, and death. It cuts these heavy topics with humor and romance. I loved this novel. Any book that can make me cry and laugh out loud is a winner for me. It was charming and heartwarming, and left me feeling thankful for my loved ones. It is a reminder to enjoy the little things in life and to love ourselves and others deeply while we can. “It’s never enough, is it? Time. We always think we have so much of it, but when it really counts, we don’t have enough at all”.
