Over a decade later this album still has a chokehold on the contemporary R&B scene. Frank’s debut studio album, Channel Orange captures the best of R&B’s bones while fundamentally changing the landscape for future artists. Hits like “Thinkin Bout You” deserve their virality, but lowkey bangers like “Bad Religion” and “Pink Matter” contrast beautifully with more upbeat tracks like “Super Rich Kids” and “Crack Rock.” If you enjoy material from Odd Future, Brent Faiyez, or Erykah Badu you might enjoy this album.
