The Matrix: Resurrections

A sequel for a new generation of fans

All this recent talk of concerns about the proliferation of artificial intelligence has caused me to reflect on the increased blurring of the lines between technology and human creativity. This prompted me to revisit "The Matrix Trilogy" which was popular at the turn of the 21st century. To my surprise, I learned that in 2021, almost two decades later, this sequel film was created. Neo and Trinity are back in Resurrections. It features a new version of Morpheus and the dreaded Agent Smith as well as a cast of new characters. As with the original trilogy, there is plenty of stylized martial arts combat scenes in The Matrix Program including ridiculous, laws-of-physics defying, acrobatic gunfights. So, fans of the franchise will have an opportunity briefly forget the uncertainty of our own technological challenges in the real world and delve back into the battle between the humans and the machines in a reconstituted world of The Matrix.
