Garlic and the Vampire

Finally answers the question: does garlic keep vampires away?

Garlic is trying to figure out what it means to be a part of her community and who she is. When Witch Agnes notices that there's activity at the old, abandoned castle, she and her vegetable friends investigate and find out that the new resident is a vampire! To prove to herself that she is brave, Garlic volunteers to go to the castle and take care of the vampire. But what if things aren't as they seem?

This graphic novel has a very appealing color scheme and really great characters - the personification of the vegetables is very well done. Paulsen has found a great balance between the story and the images.
