Charles Soule and artist Ryan Browne created a concise, compelling story where they explore what happens when everyone on Earth can suddenly manifest their heart's desire. A group of strangers gathered in a Detroit bar when the genies appear provide a front row seat to the chaos.
The original run was only 8 issues long and Soule manages to pack an enormous amount of story, character development, humor, and commentary on the human condition into that limited run. The tightly plotted narrative is part of what makes this book so special and it doesn't feel like anything got left out. This wouldn't work as well as it does without a lot of heavy lifting from Browne's art, rendering scenes that are dramatic, absurd, and fantastic with equal aplomb. This is a strong recommend for any reader, but a must read for any fan of graphic novels or comics.
