Reads like a cozy mystery meets Dr. Frankenstein
Fran and Ken are private investigators and operate a New York City based detective agency that specializes in helping clients who were adopted, find their birth parents. This business is personal for them because they too were separated from their parents at a very young age. As siblings, they have a very close relationship because they share a secret that they can’t divulge to anyone. You see Fran and Ken weren’t born. They were genetically manufactured in a lab by scientists who happen to also be their parents. The story begins when they are approached by an odd woman who desperately wants to find her birth father, but her only clue to his whereabouts is the cold trail of a valuable ukulele to which he has some unknown connection. I liked this book because it’s funny and its characters are a little off the beaten path from your typical cozy mystery.
