Sing Street

Music is the perfect escape from a rough homelife. It is also the perfect way to get the girl.

This movie is an homage to the 80s. Big hair, shoulder pads, and the advent of MTV serve as a backdrop for this fun, delightful coming-of-age story. And while the characters and plot are engaging, the real highlight of this movie lies in its soundtrack. Grabbing inspiration from the new wave and post-punk stylings of The Cure, Duran Duran, The Clash, Hall and Oats, etc. the original soundtrack echoes the sweeping sentimentality of the time period.
