Amid gritty politics, sisters keep a family afloat while solving a crime and navigating early adulthood.

A young woman has the courage to step out of Chinatown and into the booming Los Angeles movie business, and just as she begins to find her way, is murdered and left in an abandoned lot not far from where she grew up. That doesn't mean her luck has run out though, because her body is soon discovered by May and Gemma Chow-- two clever and fiercely determined young women who won't stop until justice is served. They are ready to put themselves on the line to discover the truth, but what else will they have to sacrifice, and will it be worth it in the end?
This mystery was thrilling and page-turning, and somehow managed to leave out all the rougher aspects of violent crime without tipping into the category of 'cozy'. It was wonderfully woman-centered, and sisterhood was a theme that bled through every page.
