The Gathering Dark: A Folk Horror Anthology

I'm easy to spook, but some of these stories had me jumping out of my skin.

Everything from ghost stories to revenge fantasies, what I loved most about this anthology is the representation of youth. Folk horror yes, but also coming of age, also learning how to grow up and exist in a sometimes horrible world. It's scary because responsibility is scary, and becoming an adult is scary. It was those intimate looks at the thin veil between childhood and adulthood that kept me turning the page.
