A Psalm for the Wild-Built

This is self-care in the shape of a science fiction novella.

The first book in the Robot and Monk series by Becky Chambers, titled A Psalm for the Wild-Built, was like no book I have ever experienced. It was peaceful and affirming in a way that science fiction novels rarely are. Our main character, Sibling Dex, is a monk following the path of the god of small comforts. While on a journey of self discovery they meet a sentient robot, Mosscap. This is the first time humans and robots have had contact in centuries. Throughout the story, they learn from and grow with each other. The relationship they build is charming. The story they weave is uplifting and joyful. Are you due for a hot cup of tea or a nap in the sun? This book just might fulfill that need. Fans of T. J. Klune and Travis Baldree would likely be charmed by this leisurely paced sci-fi book.
