1930s LA - a time of glamour, racism, and murder

Sisters May and Gemma Chow stumble upon the body of their friend, famous movie star Lulu Wong. Distrustful of the official police investigation, the sisters begin their own detective work, in order to make sure justice is served to the correct perpetrator. 
Stacey Lee is a wonderful historical fiction writer, leaving the reader immersed in the world of 1930s Los Angeles. She also portrays the sisterly bond between May and Gemma (and their younger sister Peony) in such a way that you can really feel the love (and occasional annoyance) between them.
