Give up the funk!

Parliament originally started as a doo-wop band in New Jersey in the late 1950s.  Led by the innovative George Clinton, a decade later it morphed into the psychedelic funk music collective known as Parliament-Funkadelic (P-Funk).  It was a prolific and dominating force in the R&B genre during 1970s.  P-funk’s outrageous onstage cartoonish characters, mythology, social commentary, and over-the-top album covers piqued the imaginations of the first post-civil rights generation of African American youth and significantly contributed to the cultural phenomenon now known as Afrofuturism. All the tracks on this album are good, but my favorites are "Aquaboogie", "Mothership Connection", "Bop Gun", "Dr. Funkenstein", and "Give Up the Funk".  It is available on Hoopla.
