Pick it Up!

It took me forever to finish this book because I kept stopping to listen to the bands mentioned. With wild anecdotes and ardent essays, Carne takes us through the history of ska from 1950s Jamaica to 2010’s “new tone” and MexSka. The author’s passion for the scene is infectious. (And has gotten this trumpet player closer to convincing their band to do ska covers!)
