Zapp was a musical group that made a significant contribution to the then relatively new genre of Electro-Funk in the 1980s.  Roger Troutman, its lead performer, was known for integrating the use of his custom-made “Talk box” in most of their songs.  This device allowed him to produce a unique sound characterized by synthesized vocals which added an other-worldly depth of soul to their music.  It created an effect that seemed to almost compel listeners to dance or bob their heads to the beat. My favorite songs on this album are “Computer Love”, “Dance Floor”, “I Can Make You Dance”, and “Heartbreaker Pt.1 & 2”.  It is available on Hoopla.
