Reading to "Jeopardy!" Success

If you tune into the long-running quiz show “Jeopardy!” or at least keep up with the news, you’ve heard of the new mega-winner James Holzhauer. While his career as a professional sports gambler has undoubtedly contributed to his success, he’s revealed another aspect of his preparation.

In a recent article featured in Publisher’s Weekly, James shares that he turned to children’s informational books to develop his wealth of knowledge. This makes sense when considering the types of questions asked in a quiz competition. A biography of Abraham Lincoln may be well written and insightful, whereas a children’s informational book on Lincoln will cover the important highlights that are likely to be featured in a quiz question.

Past “Jeopardy!” contestant Ken Jennings has even written a series of junior genius guides that cover topics such as maps, geography and outer space. You can improve your knowledge of outer space with titles like Daring Dozen: The Twelve Who Walked on the Moon and Once Upon a Starry Night: A Book of Constellations.
