All the Rage

Ever since Romy Grey reported her rape at the hands of the town’s golden boy, she’s been treated as an outcast and a liar who is desperate for attention. Armored in her red nails and red lipstick, Romy has been enduring her school days and taking refuge in her waitress job at the diner outside of town. When an ex-friend goes missing after the annual senior party, Romy has to decide if she is willing to step forward with what she knows, even though no one believed her the first time.

 

I’ve read this book a few times now and each time has left me frustrated and angry with the world, both the fictional one in the book and the real one that I see and read about in the news. This story looks at our culture’s treatment of rape and rape victims and while it is a painful book to read, I think it’s also an extremely important read.
