Heartstopper

This romantic teen graphic novel series is just adorable.

Heartstopper, now a Netflix series, is a wonderfully sweet gay coming-of-age story. It follows a love story between the openly gay and bullied teen Charlie and the rugby player Nick who no one suspects is bisexual. Rather than focusing on big drama, the story hones in on the everyday sweet moments of falling in love, making the story very relatable and charming. The mental health difficulties of one character are also handled in a very tender and moving way. 

The art is lovely as well. The cool, light blue-green palette makes the story easy on the eyes. Additionally, the artwork’s simplicity allows readers to focus easily on the heart of the story, shown in Nick and Charlie’s facial expressions and body language. 

Heartstopper is the perfect book for when you want something that’s just plain heartwarming!
