The Swans of Harlem

This is the story of five black female dancers that Arthur Mitchel selected to join his Dance Theater of Harlem. They each have very individual stories of how they started in dance, how they came to Mr. Mitchel’s attention and the hardships they endured to be a part of this company. Whether dance, especially ballet, is something you enjoy is not important. The stories of how these women worked hard to prove themselves and overcome obstacles is inspiring.
