This Is My America

Can love and persistence prevail in the face of racism and social injustice?

The Beaumont family has faced tragedy and injustice every step of the way. Dad is on death row for a murder he didn't commit. Tracy's older brother Jamal, headed to college on a track scholarship, is arrested for a murder he didn't commit, and the Klan is slowly building steam in their quiet Texas town. I learned so much reading this book, including about projects like Innocence X and apps like the ACLU Blue app, which allows videos to be taken and uploaded of injustice happening. This is an important and relevant novel.
